How to Brew Lion's Mane Turmeric Chai
Brewing Guide
One of the biggest differences between our Lion's Mane Turmeric Chai and many instant mushroom drink mixes is that this isn't an instant powder.
It's tea.
We use whole Colorado-grown Lion's Mane mushrooms and traditional organic chai spices, so brewing your cup is part of the experience. The reward is a rich, warming chai made with real ingredients you can recognize—and enjoy.
Whether you prefer it hot, iced, black, or creamy, here's how we make it.
Quick Brew
Tea: 2 level teaspoons (approximately 4 grams)
Water: 8–10 ounces
Water Temperature: Just below boiling
Steep Time: At least 5 minutes
Optional: Milk, creamer, honey, maple syrup, or your favorite sweetener
Measuring Your Tea
Simply measure 2 level teaspoons (approximately 4 grams) into your favorite mug, tea infuser, or French press.
Most kitchens already have everything you need.
Our Favorite Cup
This is how Kelly prepares most afternoon cups.
- 2 level teaspoons (4 grams) of Lion's Mane Turmeric Chai
- 8–10 ounces of hot water
- Steep for about 5-10 minutes
- Add a splash of whole milk
- Occasionally Laird Coconut Creamer for added sweetness
Simple. Comforting. Invigorating. The perfect afternoon cup.
Method 1: Classic Mug
- Add 2 teaspoons (4 grams) of chai to your mug.
- Pour in 8–10 ounces of hot water.
- Allow the tea to steep for at least 5 minutes.
- Stir gently.
- Add milk or sweetener if desired.
- Enjoy.
Method 2: French Press
A French press is one of our favorite brewing methods.
Simply add 2 teaspoons (4 grams) of chai, pour in hot water, steep for at least 5 minutes, then slowly press the plunger before pouring.
The press naturally removes much of the mushroom and spice sediment while preserving the tea's rich flavor.
Method 3: Tea Infuser
Loose-leaf tea infusers also work beautifully.
Fill the infuser with 2 teaspoons (4 grams) of chai, steep for at least 5 minutes, then remove before drinking.
This creates one of the cleanest cups while still allowing the mushrooms and spices plenty of time to steep.
Method 4: Iced Chai
Our favorite summer version.
Brew your tea exactly as you would for a hot cup.
Allow it to cool.
Pour over ice.
Add milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or your favorite sweetener if you'd like.
Refreshing, smooth, and perfect on a hot afternoon.
About the Sediment
One of the first things you'll notice is that our chai doesn't completely dissolve.
That's exactly what we'd expect.
Whole mushrooms and traditional spices naturally leave a fine sediment at the bottom of the cup.
That's one of the differences between brewing with real ingredients and drinking an instant powder.
Some people leave the last sip behind.
Others prefer a French press or tea infuser.
Either approach is perfectly fine.
Cowboy Style 🤠
Every company has its traditions. This one happens to be ours.
When it's one of those days and we need every bit of goodness the chai has to offer, we give the last bit of tea a quick swirl and finish everything in one final sip.
We call it Cowboy Style.
Not because it's better. Just because it's us.

Frequently Asked Brewing Questions
Does the water need to be boiling?
No. Very hot water just below boiling works well and helps preserve the tea's flavor.
Can I make more than one cup at a time?
Absolutely. Simply increase the tea and water proportionally. For every 1 cup of water, add 2 teaspoons of chai tea mix.
Can I brew it ahead of time?
Yes. Brew with hot water, allow it to cool, then refrigerate. It's excellent served over ice.
Can I reuse the tea?
For the fullest flavor and effect, we recommend using a fresh serving for each cup.
